A triple treat

CEBU, Philippines –  It is Joel del Prado's 40th birthday celebration on Thursday, September 25. Popularly known as Mr. Pino himself, del Prado's leadership has caused The Original Pino's to rise up from virtual anonymity, breaking all records in terms of clientele and sales since. Diners never seem to tire coming back and the restaurant is often filled up to capacity, with clients not even minding the occasional elbow nudging with fellow diners.

The occasion of del Prado's birthday is to be made more noteworthy with the launching of Editha Singian's book "Sweet Temptations," published by Anvil Publication of National Bookstore.  The famed dessert recipes in the book have been the desserts centerpiece for lunch and dinner buffets at The Original Pino's for the past months now, since Joel Del Prado's comeback from a three-year respite.

And still to mark del Prado's birthday celebration is yet another event - the addition of new dishes to The Original Pino's buffet spread! But the popular favorites remain, granting the request of loyal clients.

The new menu will now consist of: Carving Station - Hamon ng Bulakan at Pan de Sal, Hinornong Manok sa Luyang Dilaw; Salad Station - Dinuguan Maki with Bagnet (Skin trimmings of Hamon is used for Bagnet), Macaroni Salad with Hito Flakes, Alugbati at Talbos ng Camote Salad with Crispy Danggit Flakes, Dried Fish Skins; On-the-Spot Cooking - Ox-Tail Kare-Kare Dumpling, Crispy Kabute ni Nanay; Soup - Suam na Mais; Hot Dishes - Beef Adobo Batangas, Spare-ribs Estofado (Spare-ribs trimmings from Hamon), Fish Fillet with Roasted Eggplant Kulawo (Eggplant with roasted coconut milk), Pinakbet at Chicharon, Sotanghon Guisado, Bringhe; and Dessert - Gorgoria, Fried Suman with Coco Jam, Toasted Pastillas, Banana & Cream, Kalabasa Jalea, Binatog.
