CEBU, Philippines —  Cebuano-developed public commuters mobile app Ride Hero has put public transportation online, following a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Cebu Provincial government.

After the memorandum of agreement was signed by both parties on December 21, 2020, RideHero plans to go full force with the onboarding of all stakeholders this year.

The RideHero app puts the jeepneys and buses online allowing commuters to monitor and track their location. Through the app, a commuter can check the best route for him/her as information about the vehicle location, arrival time, departure time, seating capacity and bus stops will be provided real-time.

Online ticket purchase with seat reservation and cashless payment options through eWallet are also among the innovations introduced in the app.

Tourism-friendly features such as viewing the vehicle amenities and routing schedules will come in handy for tourists planning to navigate Cebu’s landscapes –an opportune time as Cebu’s tourism industry is slowly reopening its doors to visitors.

While doing all these, RideHero ensures the safety of its passengers and adherence to the government mandated health safety protocol through the QR Code Offline Contact Tracing & Trip Recording feature.

According to founder and president Michael Cubos, RideHero is more than just an application, “it is an advocacy of providing a hassle free, safe and secure commuting experience and a worthwhile bus ride to the Cebuanos.”

In the long-run, using advertising as a business model, RideHero will be able to provide sponsored/free rides to Cebuano commuters as it becomes part of the ecosystem.

A first of its kind in the Philippines, RideHero uses innovative technology to provide that transport solution to the fragmented transport sector of Cebu and address the issues on accessibility, connectivity, overcrowding, safety, and security of our transport services.

RideHero is available for download on Google Play for Android and Apps Store for iOS.
