Bits on San Miguel
BUSINESS AFTER BUSINESS - Romelinda Garces (The Freeman) - September 30, 2015 - 10:00am

When I was in school I always wondered how large companies like San Miguel Corporation remained in a position of leadership.  With the changing times and the many pressures competition places upon companies, being in the top ranks of the industry must be difficult.  Then I learned that the corporation draws its strength from the dedication of its people who have embodied the value of MALASAKIT.  The significance of which is hard to capture in a few English words.

Malasakit connotes a selflessness; an intrinsic desire to be of help or service without counting the cost.  It draws out a genuine concern for quality beyond the call of duty and heartfelt volunteerism.  As it aspires to make its products a source of delight to its customers, San Miguel Corporation has also involved itself in various corporate social responsibility programs in both host areas and astro-communities or communities of great need.

In every bottle, every pack, and every deal,  San Miguel Corporation strives to be a source of joy and more value.   The company that just celebrated 125 years of its existence in September 29, 2015, shares what it has done and how others have found SMC better world through #smcbetterworld on Twitter and Instagram and SMC Better World on Facebook. Those who have stories to share on how the company has  positively affected them can post their experiences in the sites.

Oktoberfest  2015!

It’s time to kick off your working shoes and relax after business with a bottle of ice-cold San Miguel Beer Pale Pilsen.  Did you know that this beer just celebrated 125 years?  Oh yes!  That is why people who are steady San Miguel Pale Pilsen drinkers are considered to be the real cool guys.  Professionals and self-made men  and women who have “arrived” at where they want to be.

The pale pilsener is the first beer that San Miguel Brewery, produced.  In 1890, Don Enrique Maria Barretto de Ycaza of Spain, sought approval from his government to start a brewery in the Philippines.  When it was granted, Don Enrique named the factory, La Fabrica de Cerveza de San Miguel, after St. Michael, the archangel whose feast they were celebrating on the brewery’s first installation.

Since then the Pale Pilsen has become the flagship  brand of San Miguel’s beer.  It is the same brew that has progressed the business and expanded the corporation from a single product to a multi-beverage and food company.  Through the years, San Miguel Corporation grew into a diversified business entity that has always made quality its foremost concern.

Come October 2, here in Cebu, at the I.T, Park, in Lahug,  a party will kick off the Oktoberfest celebration.  As a tribute to the loyal followers of San Miguel Beer, popular bands like Rocksteddy, Six Cyclemind, with two Manila DJs, will be featured.  The event is hosted by Papa Joe of RGMA.  This big party is open to all 18 above music and beer enthusiasts.  An entrance fee of P100 will provide the partygoers with two cups of beer.

Bank  of  Commerce Opens  New  Branch

A relatively new entrant to the San Miguel group, Bank of Commerce opened its new branch at the Times Square Building in the North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City in time for the 125th  anniversary of San Miguel Corporation last September 29, 2015.  Bank of Commerce, North Reclamation is managed by Ms. Elaine “Happy” Yeto.  The bank is the second BOC branch in Mandaue City.  The first of which is located along Highway Seno, Mandaue City and is managed by Ms. Yvette Cloma.
