Even during his retrial, the Regional Trial Court was unconvinced by the defense of a fish vendor who was arrested for possession of shabu. Instead, the court found his evidence insufficient and sentenced him to at least 15 years in jail.


Authorities arrested Danilo Uralde after a buy-bust operation in barangay Mambaling last January 20, 2004.  Police said they recovered the two packs of shabu from Uralde’s left hand and the marked money from his right.

Two persons were arrested during a saturation drive by the elements of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office against illegal drugs in barangay Duljo-Fatima Friday night.


The CIIB operatives first arrested Romeo Uralde, 36, a resident of sitio Kabayotan, after seizing from his possession two packs of suspected shabu.

Regional Trial Court Judge Gabriel Ingles found Danilo P. Uralde of sitio Pungtod guilty for keeping two packs of shabu when police arrested him on January 20, 2004.


During arraignment, Uralde pleaded guilty to the charges filed against him, court records showed.
