CEBU, Philippines - An inmate of the Cebu City Jail faces another criminal complaint after nine plastic sachets containing suspected shabu was found on the bed where he was sleeping in the said jail.

Alberto Peligrino Uralde of Barangay Duljo-Fatima faces a criminal complaint formally filed in the city prosecutor’s office by Cebu City Jail Warden Supt. Efren Nemeño, for violating Sec.11 Art. II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Drug Act.

In a joint affidavit submitted by JO1 John Den Credo and JO1 Manuel Angelou Ygay who were tasked to inspection the room occupied by Uralde, they stated that they first conducted a body search on the accused and later requested Uralde to witness as they scanned the room.

Ygay said that he found a black wallet on top of the beddings which contained several packs of small transparent plastic sachets with suspected shabu, a P500 bill and a gold necklace with pendant.

After the inventory, the nine plastic sachets weighing 0.18 grams were brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory Office-7 for analysis.

Results from the said laboratory later confirmed that the substance was indeed methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.

Uralde, in an interview with the media said he does not know where the wallet and sachets came from since other inmates also sleep in that bed.

He said that this is the third shabu-related case filed against him. — AJ de la  Torre/BRP   (FREEMAN NEWS)
