[Summary] => The family of former Urban Bank president Teodoro Borlongan asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday to return the gun and other personal effects retrieved from his possession when he committed suicide in Marikina City last April 11.

Borlongan’s counsel and sister-in-law, lawyer Elena Enriquez, said the family is convinced that the victim indeed committed suicide and that "no crime has been committed."

The 17th Division earlier handed down a decision in favor of the BSP.

That was the argument placed by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Rafael B. Buenaventura in his motion filed with the Court of Appeals (CA). Buenaventura stressed that he cannot be held liable for the bank’s closure because "it was Urban Bank’s management itself that closed the bank when it declared a bank holiday."

This was confirmed by Urbank Bank president Teodoro Borlongan, who said that he has talked with Land Bank president Florido Casuela days after the bank was closed. He said Casuela "understood" what happened to the bank.
