Succulentophile is giving way this week to frequent guest columnist Peter Bangayan, whose article today scores the need to propagate our existing plants and help preserve species that are fast disappearing due in part to unscrupulous plant collectors.
Last Sunday, we had our second Cactus & Succulent Society meeting for the year. Chit Rufo and Sally Obien hosted the event at the Manila Seedling Bank in Quezon City. We had a decent turnout with about 30 members attending. What was especially gratifying for me was seeing all the new members joining the society, including some from out of town, like Jefferson Patiag who came all the way from Nueva Ecija just to attend our meeting. What was even better was the impact the new members had that day.
Succulentophile is giving way this week to Peter A. Bangayan. Peter has a degree in BS Physics from La Salle and an MBA from Ateneo. His interest in succulents started around 15 years ago. He’s a member of the Cactus and Succulent Society and became its president from 1998 to 2000. Aside from collecting succulents, mostly African succulents, Peter is into photography especially black and white photography.
Succulentophile’s guest columnist, Peter Bangayan, started taking an interest in cacti and succulents about 15 years ago. He joined the Cactus & Succulent Society of the Philippines and became its president from 1998 to 2000. Peter graduated from De La Salle University with a degree in BS Physics and took up his MBA at Ateneo. Aside from growing cacti and succulents, photography, especially black-and-white photography, is one of his passions.
