[Summary] => SAN REMIGIO, Antique — Police are hunting down a group of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels who killed a soldier, a policeman and a municipal casual clerk of this town and wounded another lawman in an ambush last Friday.
The three fatalities were identified as clerk Melitor Fortin, SPO3 Edgar Cataque and Army Cpl. Joselito Otero. Wounded was PO3 Edgar Terre.
Police said the four were on their way to Barangay Bagumbayan to investigate a holdup there when they were waylaid in Barangay Cabiawan, which was two villages away.

[Summary] => ILOILO CITY — A witness in the killing of an eight-year-old boy here more than a year ago, was shot dead by two unidentified men in the presence of his wife yesterday morning.
The victim, Rudy Chris Balidiong, 23, was having breakfast with his wife, Rosa Maria, at about 10 a.m. when the assassins approached them from behind and shot him three times — one in the back of the head and two in the body, police said.
Balidiong died three and a half hours later at the Saint Paul’s Hospital.

The suspect, Arthur Glenn Caspe, went to a neighbor’s house in Barangay Tularukan, borrowed a huge knife and then proceeded to the room of his lola Maria Adelantar and beheaded her.
Caspe later took the severed head and dumped it near a water pump outside their house.

A government militiaman and a guerrilla were also slain in Barangay Daan Sur, reports said.
The soldiers were patrolling the village when they encountered at least 12 rebels. One of the slain Army men was identified as Capt. Francisco Ponteveros.
