The stars were out in all their splendor when France honored STAR publisher Max Soliven with the rank of Officer of French Legion of Honor (Légion d’Honneur) recently at the home of French Ambassador to Manila H.E. Gerard Chesnel.


President Arroyo’s presence turned the evening into a grand event which was attended by members of Soliven’s family, friends, diplomats, Cabinet members and colleagues.

Sama-sama" or in English, all together–this is the theme of this year’s French Spring festival. Organized by the French Embassy, French Spring is celebrated in many nations throughout the world. In the Philippines, the much-awaited event promoting cultural diversity was led by French Ambassador Gerard Chesnel. The exciting festival started with a colorful Christian Lacroix fashion exhibit at the Ayala Museum where the inspired creations of the fashion design genius were displayed to appreciative fashionistas, art lovers and prominent dignitaries.

                    [Summary] => France’s new ambassador to the Philippines, Gerard Chesnel, has pledged support for the marine protection and environmental conservation initiatives of Palawan.


In his recent visit to the province, Chesnel said tourism is one of the province’s main resources so emphasis should be on ecotourism.


"In a very fragile and unique environment, it is the kind of development that we think should be conducted. In this field, we have experience. If we can be of help, we will be studying in what areas and fields we could cooperate efficiently," he said.
