According to David Macasadia, managing director of Mazda Philippines, the Mazda3 brings in a fresh and more exciting breath to the market’s conventional C-segment.

The Philippines, Macasadia disclosed, was the first to launch the locally-assembled Mazda3 which will be sold both domestically and abroad to at least three ASEAN countries, namely Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Ford Group Philippines president Henry Co said the Mazda brand, while part of the Ford family, would be handled independently by Mazda Philippines.

For this year, Co disclosed, Mazda would bring in four models.

The first two to be introduced next week would be the high-end sedan Mazda 6 and the sport utility vehicle Tribute.

Later in the year, Co said, Mazda would bring in two more vehicles, most likely the Protege and a still undetermined model.

According to David M. Macasadia, vice president of Ford Motors Philippines, up to 41 percent of the CKDs for export would be sourced locally.

Initially, Macasadia said Ford will export 20 lots per year with each lot equivalent to 20 units of autoparts.

Ford’s CKD exports, however, would not be entitled to any incentives from the government.
