Marilyn Tagal yesterday testified in court that she was only about a meter-away behind Parilla when a man - whom she later identified as Corpin - shot Parilla in the head causing the latter to fall in front of her.
Tagal, Corpin and Parilla were aboard a ship from Naval town in Leyte, on its way to Cebu.

The private prosecutors of the murder case filed against the alleged assailant of former Biliran governor Danilo Parilla said they have at least 10 witnesses who can prove the guilt of suspect Eugenio Corpin who pleaded not guilty to the crime in yesterday's arraignment of the case.
Adelino Sitoy, head of the panel of private prosecutors, successfully convinced the court to allow them to file amended information that would state that Corpin is a "recidivist," meaning a person who always commits crimes and was already convicted of violating the law.

[Summary] => The Cebu City Police Office yesterday filed murder charges against the suspect in the killing of former Biliran governor Danilo Parilla before the City Prosecutor's Office.
The Homicide Section, through Inspector Erlando Metante, filed the charges against Eugenio Corpin, 56, who was tagged as the one who shot Parilla while the former governor was disembarking from a ship at Pier 4 Thursday morning.
Metante claimed they have an "air-tight" case against Corpin, saying that they have at least five witnesses who could support the case.

[Summary] => TACLOBAN CITY — Former Biliran governor Danilo Parilla was shot dead in Cebu City yesterday morning allegedly by a former bodyguard of his local political rival.
Parilla, 52, was shot twice with a caliber .45 pistol by Eugene Corpin, a former bodyguard of incumbent Biliran Gov. Roger Espina. Police arrested Corpin after the incident.
Police said Parilla and his wife, Susan, sailed from Naval, Biliran to Cebu City, where they own a house, on board a SuperCat ferry.
