Its basic body and platform first made its local debut in late 1997. That’s over eight years ago! That first model came in two variants: a 2.0-liter Super Saloon and a 2.5-liter 24-valve V6-equipped VR flagship. The latter model quietly disappeared from the landscape in 2000 with the Super Saloon soldiering on and eventually evolving into the sportier GTA model in 2002.

                    [Summary] => I have to admit I wasn’t too excited when I first laid eyes on the Chevrolet Lumina. My first impressions were that the front was a bit too bland with an almost generic-looking horizontal-slatted grille that you see on almost all cars from Sentras to Camrys to Mercedes-Benzes. The seemingly characterless side was marred by smallish alloy wheels and awkwardly tall tires.


Inside, the seats were leather but otherwise plain-looking. Ditto the dashboard and console whose only obvious claim to fame is the beautiful white-faced analog clock. Then I started using the car…
