Santo Tomas still overall champion in UAAP

MANILA, Philippines — Santo Tomas capped its stellar 88th UAAP Season hosting with a record-extending overall championship in both divisions as it handed the torch over to Season 89 host Far Eastern U.

It’s the ninth straight double general title for España after netting 10 championships this season in the collegiate and 11 titles in the high school division.

Santo Tomas has now won 49 general titles in the seniors and 25 in the juniors, the most for any school in UAAP history as testament to its outstanding program across all sports disciplines – more than just the staple and popular basketball, volleyball and football events.

Santo Tomas collected 356 points in the seniors’ play after ruling table tennis (men), chess (men’s standard, men’s and women’s blitz), basketball (women’s 5-on-5, 3x3), judo (men and women) and beach volleyball (men and women).

The Tiger Cubs reigned once more in the juniors with 327 points on judo (boys and girls), beach volleyball (boys and girls), table tennis (boys and girls), swimming (boys and girls), basketball (girls) and athletics (boys and girls) titles.

UST Rector Very Rev. Fr. Richard Ang, O.P., Ph.D. said the bigger achievement was hosting yet another successful UAAP season.
