MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala and Hailey Baptiste of the United States got hammered by the second-seeded Katerina Siniakova of Czechia and Taylor Townsend of the United States, 6-2, 6-1 for a quick exit in the Italian Open doubles yesterday at the Foro Italico Sports Complex in Rome.
Eala, who bowed out in the third round of singles play, and Baptiste succumbed in only 69 minutes of play as replacements for home bet Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Canada’s Leylah Fernandez, who withdrew at the last minute.
