MANILA, Philippines — The Nxled Chameleons are leaving to chance its bid to make it to the PVL All-Filipino Conference qualifying round.
That was after the LED light-producing franchise brought down PLDT, 21-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-14, Thursday at the Filoil Arena that breathed life to the former’s bid of gatecrashing into the four-team crossover phase.
“We’re keeping our fingers crossed,” said Nxled coach Etorre Guidetti.
It was the second straight win and fifth overall in nine classification matches for Nxled that gave it a legitimate chance to sneak into the top four.
That is, of course, assuming that one or none between Akari and Creamline, each with a 5-3 record, would win their last outings with the former battling Farm Fresh (4-4) and Creamline tackling Cignal (6-2) Saturday at the same San Juan venue.
If that happens, the Chameleons would still need to beat others in a potential multi-team tie for them to join the High Speed Hitters, who fell to 7-2, and the Super Spikers in the playoff round, where the two winners advance straight to the semifinals.
Brooke Van Sickle did another yeoman’s job and fired a match-high 21 points, including 19 spikes, while presiding over the floor defense with 11 receptions and nine digs.
MJ Phillips, Jonah Escamillan and Myla Pablo were in it too, scattering 16, 15 and 13 hits, respectively.
