MANILA, Philippines — The dominance continues for Alex Eala.

Eala barged into the second round of the Sao Paulo Open in Brazil after making quick work of qualifier Yasmine Mansouri, 6-0, 6-2, in their opening round matchup early Wednesday morning (Manila time).

The Filipina, who is coming off her first WTA title just a few days ago, dominated every aspect of the match against the French tennister to grab the win in one hour and 10 minutes.

After getting the flawless victory in the first set, she continued her mastery in the second set, going up 3-0.

While Mansouri finally put herself on the board in the fourth game, this did not stop Eala from flexing her muscles anew.

Eala recorded 34 service points won against Mansouri, while also blasting 31 return points against her opponent’s 15.

“I did not expect so many people to come out and watch me play. I guess I was a bit lucky to be sandwiched in between two great Brazilians so I’m now just happy to be here and to be able to play well,” the Filipina said, as she underscored it was her first time in Brazil and South America.

Eala, ranked 61st in the world, will now take on World No. 188 Julia Riera in the round of 16. Their clash is set early Thursday morning (Manila time).
