MANILA, Philippines — Philippine bets Lito Adiwang’s and Rene Catalan’s bids for title shots suffered tremendous blows as they went down in defeat in ONE: Nextgen III at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Friday night.

Adiwang fell to ONE newcomer Jarred Brooks via an arm triangle choke in the second round to slip to a 13-4 record while Catalan absorbed a first-round defeat via armbar to Alex Silva to skid to 6-5.

Adiwang is likely to slip down the pecking order from being the No. 5 challenger.

It was more painful for the 42-year-old Catalan, a former Asian Games wushu gold medalist who took his third straight defeat.

Brooks improved to 16-2 while Silva, a former No. 4, nailed his sixth win against four setbacks.

Brooks dominated Adiwang with his spectacular ground game as the Filipino striker just had no defense to the former’s repeated takedowns.

Catalan was just no match to the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt.
