Manila, San Juan in FilBasket finals

MANILA, Philippines — AICC Manila and San Juan-Go for Gold dumped their respective opponents to arrange a title showdown in the FilBasket Subic Championships at the Subic Gym Friday night.

The AICC dribblers lived up to their top billing as they flattened the Pasig-Sta. Lucia Realtors, 88-68, while the Knights edged the Davao Occidental Tigers-Cocolife, 85-84, to set up a best-of-three finale.

Michael Mabulac led the way with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Chris Bitoon had 13 points and Hesed Gabo chipped in 11 points and seven dimes as the AICC Manila dribblers roared to the finals after topping the eliminations with an 8-2 win-loss record.

The Knights, for their part, leaned on a booming triple by Paul Hernandez and a big jumper by Orlan Wamar to erase a 78-81 deficit and seize the advantage for good.

Keith Agovida had a chance to steal the game for Davao Occidental but misfired a floater in the waning seconds.
