Yap not ready to retire
MANILA, Philippines — Rain or Shine veteran James Yap sees himself playing one more year before considering calling it a career.
Two-time MVP Yap is running for councilor in San Juan but expressed readiness to perform double duties in the hardcourt and city hall, if ever.
“Tinanong nila ako kung ano ang plano ko, kung magre-retire na ba ako. Sabi ko naman, pwede bang kung papalarin ako, habang councilor ako sa San Juan, pwede ba akong maglaro sa PBA? Pwede naman daw,” he explained.
“So siguro one more year sa PBA.”
The 39-year-old Yap filed his certificate of candidacy five days after the Elasto Painters bowed out of the ongoing Philippine Cup via a 0-2 loss to Magnolia in the quarterfinals.
