Jalasco elected chief of wushu body
MANILA, Philippines — Former Basketball Association of the Philippies (BAP) president Godofredo “Freddie” Jalasco was recently elected new president of the Wushu Federation Philippines (WFP).
Jalasco, who has served as WFP vice president and executive director, is the first non-Chinese speaking sportsman to head the 32-year-old local governing body of the sport that evolved from Chinese martial arts dating back 2,000 years.
Re-elected to their respective positions were chairman Jimmy Tan, executive vice president Eddy Tanteko and longtime secretary-general Julian Camacho.
Ice Skating Union secretary-general Benito Lim will serve as vice chairman. Other elected officers include Anna Gan, first vice president; Ronald Ong, second vice president; and Bobby Hongliangyi, treasurer.
Jimmy Ong, Samson Co, Tansuitong Candelaria, Lily Lim, Willy Wang, Ellen Ang and Richa Fernandez round out the 15-strong WFP Board of Trustees.
