MANILA, Philippines — Reviving an iconic basketball tutorial from his PBA heydays, Meralco coach Norman Black is back sharing his hoops knowledge and skill set, this time with son Aaron.

In time for the celebration of the Father’s Day, the 11-time champion tactician took his son to a trip down memory lane with the re-launch of Burlington Basketball Tips (BBT) tutorial that first aired in the 80s.

The dad-son tutorial is now available online on Facebook and Youtube with a duration of 15 minutes centered around the fundamentals of ball handling and dribbling. More clinics will be available in the coming weeks.

It’s glimpse of the past for Black, who was a two-time champion and Best Import back then, and a chance to make the most of the present by sharing his basketball acumen while the sports industry endures an indefinite hiatus due to the pandemic.

“In this time of Covid19, keeping healthy is crucial as the world is trapped in quarantine,” said Black. “I hope to sustain this project until kids go back to face-to-face classes in school.”

Honored by the PBA as Mr. 100 Percent after taking the PBA by storm as San Miguel import in 1982, the former Detroit Piston also invaded the local shows in 1986 via the BBT feature by Vintage Enterprises in between games.

The BBT would then become a staple in the basketball and TV community, reaping numerous awards from Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA), Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) and Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (SCOOP) as a great educational and sport program.

Aside from the usual production venues at the Philsports Arena, Aquinas School and several universities, BBT also went to different places nationwide for live tutorials with aspiring basketball players.

Now living in modern times, the proud dad and decorated coach Black looks to reach more budding kids with his tutorial now available on social media.

and more importantly, with his promising son Aaron by his side.
