Angelo Que fights back with 68

MANILA, Philippines — Angelo Que checked an early struggle with four birdies in the last 11 holes, finishing with a three-under 68 to gain ground after three rounds of the Fujisankei Classic still jointly paced by Chan Kim and Ho Sung Choi at the Fujizakura Country Club in Yamanashi, Japan yesterday.

Que, who failed to sustain a superb first round 66 with a 72 Friday, fought back from a two-bogey, one-birdie game after six holes with birdies on Nos. 7, 9, 12 and 15 while spiking his 35-33 card with three scrambling pars.

But his 206 could only move him to solo fifth, still six strokes off Ho Sung and Kim, who remained tied at the lead at 200 after slowing down with a pair of 70s, still four ahead of Sang Hyun Park and Gunn Charoenkul, who assembled identical 204s for joint third after a 67 and 70, respectively.

Over in Taiwan, Miguel Tabuena failed to mount a third-round rally as he groped for a 74 marred by a double bogey, and stayed too far behind in the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club yesterday.

He dropped to joint 39th at 213, way off veteran Lin Wen-tang, who shot a 65 for a 200 and a one-stroke lead over Yikeun Chang and Chan Shih-Chang, who had 201s after a pair of 68s.
