Altas tracksters reign in Unigames 2018

MANILA, Philippines — Warren Villarosa led a crack Perpetual Altas track and field team that carted away 10 gold medals to rule the 23rd Philippine University Games in Dumaguete City recently.

Villarosa became the sprint king of the Unigames wiith his golden performance in the 100m and 200m. He added the long jump to become the Unigames’ triple-gold individual medalist.

The tracksters of head coach Trece Academia, assistant coach Larick Panes and Philip Silloco said the impressive showing, which included six-silver and three-bronze medals, put Perpetual Help in a strong position for the overall title in the 2019  NCAA Track and Field competitions.

The other individual gold medalists were Bryan Niño Dumaguit (110m hurdles), Jansen Jim Montecina (triple jump), Edwin Bajo (800m), Alfredo Dadivas (400mh)  and Ian Ofalia (javelin).

Villarosa also led the 4x100 relay relay team that included Dumaguit, Toto Arzaga and Michael Batuto. Perpetual’s 4x400m team of Edwin Bajo, Arzaga, Batuto and Dadivas also won the gold.

The silver medalists were Bajo (400m), Sherwin Barsalote (javelin), Batuto (1,500m, 3000m), Dadivas (100m) and the classical relay team of Villarosa, Arzaga, Dadivas and Bajo.

The bronze winners were Arzaga (400m) Prince John de los Santos (long jump), John Michael Urgel (5000m) and Jerwin Calupit (discus).
