Revellers clinch No. 1
MANILA, Philippines — Che’Lu Bar and Grill recovered from an early struggle then held sway in the second half to carve out a 74-68 decision over Go for Gold to clinch the top seeding in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig yesterday.
Levi Hernandez hit five triples and finished with 23 points and seven rebounds for the Revellers while Jeff Viernes added eight points, including a clutch jumper that helped stave off the Scratchers’ late fightback.
Che’Lu Bar thus finished the double-round elims on top with an 8-2 card as it sealed its best-of-three semis showdown with No. 4 Centro Escolar U.
Go for Gold ended up with a 7-3 and settled for No. 2 for a semis clash with Marinerong Pilipino-TIP, which earlier turned back Centro Escolar U, 81-72, for the third seeding.
Jessie Collado fell one rebound short of a double-double as he scored 13 points. He added two assists, two steals and two shot blocks for Che’Lu.
