Senate edges Palace-PSC in UNTV Cup
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Joel Villanueva overshadowed Presidential Special Assistant Bong Go as the Senate Sentinels downed the Malacañang-Philippine Sports Commission Kamao, 78-74, at the start of the UNTV Cup Executive Face-Off at the Pasig City Sports Center last Sunday.
A former member of the UST varsity team in the early 90s, Villanueva put on a big show, scoring and creating plays as the Sentinels survived Kamao’s determined challenge.
Villanueva also bucked cramps to fire 21 points. The Sentinels also held Go to 15 points.
Warren Tan and Sen. Sonny Angara backed Villanueva with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The Philippine National Police, led by Dir. General Oscar Albayalde, routed defending champion AFP, 90-62, in the other match in the event graced by UNTV CEO and chairman Daniel Razon.
