Athletics repel Cagers, stretch MPBL win run
MANILA, Philippines — Tanduay-Batangas City took charge in the second half then warded off Muntinlupa-Angelis Resort’s fightback down the stretch to pull off an 82-77 victory and extend its win run to six in the MPBL-Anta Rajah Cup at the Navotas Sports Complex Tuesday night.
Teytey Teodoro sizzled with 24 points, including clutch baskets the way he delivered them in their thrilling overtime win over the Parañaque Patriots a few days back as the Athletics stayed unbeaten in the tournament organized by Sen. Manny Pacquiao with former PBA MVP Kenneth Duremdes as commissioner.
Muntinlupa dropped to 4-2.
Meantime, former PBA hotshot Gary David came up with another explosive performance as the Bataan Defenders-Bai Shipping picked up their second straight victory with a 96-88 romp over home team Navotas Clutch-Big J Sports.
A multiple scoring champion in the PBA, David turned in one of his best games ever, scoring 25 points, including 8-of-9 from the foul line.
Navotas fell to 3-3 for joint fifth with Bulacan Kuyas-Ligo Sardines.
