Cocolife completes roster with Tan, Gendrauli

Voltaire Mendoza - Philstar.com
MANILA, Philippines — Cocolife finally applied the finishing touches in its massive rebuilding project after acquiring wing spikers Denice Tan and Danika Gendrauli for the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix that fires off on February 17.

Team official Joshua Ylaya announced the acquisition, saying that Tan and Gendrauli will play a key role in their championship quest in the import-flavored conference.

Prior to Tan and Gendrauli, the Asset Managers secured the services of Serbian mentor Moro Branislav, prolific import Sara Klisura, Filipino-Hawaiian playmaker Shawna-Lei Santos and noted spiker Honey Royse Tubino to emerge as the busiest team in the offseason.

Former Army stars Mary Jean Balse, Nerissa Bautista, Jane Gonzales and Joanne Bunag will also be back as well as national team member Denise Lazaro and American reinforcement Taylor Milton.

Ylaya said the inclusion of Tan and Gendrauli will make them competitive not only in the Grand Prix but also in the succeeding tournaments ahead.

“We’re not looking at just the immediate need of the team. We’re looking at our long-term need as well,” said Ylaya, who used to be part of the De La Salle University men’s volleyball squad.

“Danika and Denice are quality players that can play at both wing positions and can provide a much-needed spark off the bench.”

Ylaya said aside from beefing up their firepower, the addition of Gendrauli would make them super competitive in the Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup, which will kick off this May.

“Danika will also be a big help for our beach volley campaign. She will represent us together with Nene Bautista,” he continued.

The Asset Managers, however, are tipped to add two more quality players as soon as the UAAP and NCAA are over.

Ylaya, however, refused to name them so they ill remain focus on the campaign of their respective university teams.

“There are two more players joining us after the UAAP and NCAA,” he said. “But we would not announce their names so we won’t distract them in their ongoing campaigns.”
