CKSC seeks 2 WBL titles

MANILA, Philippines — Chiang Kai Shek College sent two teams to the finals of the 30th Women’s Basketball League organized by the Best Center at the Jacinto Tiu courts in Xavier School yesterday.

The young CKSC dribblers drubbed their counterparts from Miriam College, 61-26, over the weekend to make the 13-and-Under championship match against De La Salle-Zobel, which escaped past St. Paul College-Pasig, 44-41, in the other semifinals duel of this tournament sponsored by Milo and backed by Rain or Shine, Chris Sports and Sklz.

They square off for the trophy at the Jacinto Tiu Competition Court.

Chiang Kai Shek College’s 18-U team also made the final of the Competitive Division via a 62-36 rout of De La Salle-Zobel in the semis. It will face La Salle College-Antipolo, which clobbered Pasig National High School, 45-24, for the crown at 9:45 a.m.

Quezon City Academy clipped St. Stephen High School, 33-28, for the right to face New Era High School, which edged La Salle College-Antipolo, 25-24, in the 18-U Developmental Division final at 11 a.m.

Polytechnic University of the Philippines defeated Our Lady of Fatima University, 52-46, in the semis and will face Philippine Women’s University, which zapped Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, 61-42, in the final game of the 25-U category.

La Salle player Andrei Caracut, a Best Center graduate from Lucena City who is now making his name in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), will hand out the trophies to the champion teams.
