MANILA, Philippines — Adamson University on Monday filed a formal protest for their 80th UAAP men’s basketball tournament Final Four loss to De La Salle University 75-82 over the weekend.

Adamson Director for Athletics and Recreation Fr. Aldrin Suan wrote to commissioner Rebo Saguisag calling a review of the "unfair" and "biased" officiating by referees.

"The statistics do not lie. Watching it either live or on television reveals a dubious officiating by the referees, all in favor of La Salle and prejudicial to Adamson," the letter read.

Suan highlighted the discrepancy in free throws, which he said helped La Salle win the game.

The Green Archers shot 39 free throws while the Falcons were limited to five.

The school, however, made it clear that they are only after a fair game.

"Lest it be misunderstood, Adamson University is not sour-graping for the loss. The community only clamors for an objective, fair and impartial officiating, all in the name of a decent game," it continued.

In response, Atty. Saguisag said they have already suspended the referees who officiated the game.

The Green Archers will defend their title against the winner of the do-or-die semis match between the Ateneo Blue Eagles and FEU Tamaraws on Wednesday.
