Creamline, Perlas BanKo triumph in PVL on Tour

MANILA, Philippines — Creamline and Perlas-BanKo pulled off hard-earned victories against separate foes Saturday night when the Premier Volleyball League in partnership with Grid Athletic Sports staged its very first “PVL on Tour” at the People’s Gym in Tuguegarao.

The Cool Smashers, spearheaded by Jia Morado, turned back Pocari Sweat, 25-19, 29-27, 23-25, 25-22, while the BanKo Spikers pulled off a come-from-behind 25-27, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 16-14 win over the Grethcel Soltones-led Water Defenders before to the delight of the huge crowd who came to watch the event.

The PVL will visit San Juan, Batangas on Jan. 15 as well as Bacolod City on Jan. 17 and Iloilo City on Jan. 18 as part of the league’s thrust to reach out to its fans in the provinces.

There is a chance that Alyssa Valdez, who missed out the game with Creamline after leaving to play for a Chinese Taipei club, will play in Bacolod City while the possibility of her seeing action in Iloilo and her hometown San Juan, Batangas are still in the works.

“This is our way of reaching out to the fans of the PVL who have been supporting the league from the start,” said Ricky Palou of the organizing Sports Vision.

The PVL has partnered with Grid Athletic Sports that is formed by a group that includes Charo Soriano and Valdez herself.

Soriano is the same individual who founded the Beach Volleyball Republic, now the biggest and most popular beach volley league in the country today.
