Rivers cleared to reinforce Pocari Sweat in PVL

MANILA, Philippines — Defending champions Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors will get their much needed boost as import Krystal Rivers received the green light to play in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.
Rivers secured her International Transfer Certificate Thursday when the Lady Warriors swept the Power Smashers, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21, to barge back to the finals at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
The Alabama standout was in uniform but did not see action. Head coach Rommel Abella said he knew Rivers was cleared to play but decided not to field her in the match.
"Syempre unfair naman doon sa kabilang team kung last minute magppalit tayo ng player," he said.
Rivers will replace Edina Selimovic, who suffered a season ending hamstring injury after playing just two games.
The middle blocker made history as the leading scorer in the history of the Crimson Tide women's volleyball program.
She is also a cancer survivor after beating Hodgkin's lymphoma two years ago.
"I'm ready to play, I'm excited for what we can accomplish. Seeing how much this means to the team, they all have their heart set on this, I want to be a part of it, I want be on court, I want to be a part of winning something." Rivers said.
