Generika coach tempers expectations

Despite having one of the deeper bench, Generika-Ayala Life Savers head coach Francis Vicente is keeping expectations low in the 2017 Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference | Philippine Superliga/Roman Prospero
MANILA, Philippines — Even with one of the deeper and more experienced lineups, head coach Francis Vicente is keeping expectations low for the Generika-Ayala Life Savers.
The Life Savers scored a 25-14, 23-25, 25-15, 25-14 victory over the Cocolife Asset Managers in the 2017 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil Flying-V Centre in San Juan, Tuesday.
And four players scored in double digits.
Team captain Gen Casugod, Fiola Ceballos and Patty Orendain put up 12 points, while Angeli Araneta added 11.
Michele Gumabao, meanwhile, was the lone Asset Manager in double digits with 12 points.
Even with their stellar outing, Vicente said they are not considering their team as the team to beat.
"Ayoko kasi maging overconfident, basta sa akin doon sa dulo ang tukoy namin. 'Yun ang goal, sa dulo," he said.
But Vicente said this does not mean they will be contented without the championship in their hands.
"Ayoko sabihin na champion team sila. Mayroon kaming goal, 'yun (championship) ang gusto namin ma-meet and it has to happen," he closed.
