MANILA, Philippines - Escolin and Eslabon brothers (Escolin Eslabon), Frank Berin (Mulawin) and Tonton Lim (Lucban) tallied 8-1 cards apiece to share top honors in the World Slasher Cup 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Wednesday.
Escolin Eslabon racked up eight consecutive wins before losing to Balete Eco Farm (Hennie) of Peter Alsosa in the 48th fight of the event backed by Thunderbird and Petron, and Filipino-owned company Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists.
Berin, the WSC 1 champion, outlasted Rep. Kulit Alcala (VJA Khulit CC Combine 2) in the derby’s last fight while Lim suffered his only loss in the seventh fight.
Doc Ayong Lorenzo and Dante Hinlo (DVH EDL Excellence) posted 7.5 points capped by a 15-second victory over Temecula Creek, to finish solo fourth.
Ending up with seven pointers were Rep. Patrick Antonio (Sagupaan T2S 500 and AEJ Gamefarm Sagupaan Superfeeds), Alcala (VJA Khulit CC Combine 2), James Uy and Raymond Calderon (JU San Jose) and Amante Capuchino (ARC Oliver 1).
VJA Khulit CC 3, Roan AVM Diamond, 671 Firebird Uppercut, Casa Juan Resort, JMC Fortuna, SAP AV Masigasig, North Harbor Pier 15 RCA finished with six points apiece in the event which drew more than 9,000 crowd.
