MANILA, Philippines - Nothing's official yet, but the door to returning as head coach of the UST Growling Tigers is very open for Pido Jarencio.

Jarencio said Friday that he is very willing to call the shots once again should the position be vacant.

"Oo gusto ko bumalik kung vacant yung position." he said during the Tigers' annual get together in a restaurant in Quezon City,

Jarencio steered the Tigers to their 18th title in 2006, his first year as head coach. Under his tutelage, the Espana-based squad made a back to back finals appearance in 2012 and 2013 but lost to Ateneo and La Salle respectively.

He was then hired by Globalport in the PBA as head coach in 2014 but was later replaced by Eric Gonzales.

Bong dela Cruz, one of his deputies in 2006, took over and even led the Tigers' to a runner-up finish in 2015.

But a string of controversies hounded the team and dela Cruz was replaced by Boy Sablan.

UST ended Season 79 at the bottom of the standings with a 3-11 record, its worst since the final four was introduced in the league.

Jarencio declined to give a comment on the Tigers' anemic season and said he looks forward to the future of the squad.

"May sarili silang patakbo (ng team.) Ang sa akin lang naman, kung bakante 'yung posisyon at 'yung management interesado (ako kuhanin,) why not?"

However, he clarified that the UST management has not made any offers for him yet.

"Wala pa, (pero) waiting lang ako." he said.
