New faces banner Azkals vs Perth side
MANILA, Philippines – Aspiring new faces and young guns will get their chance to showcase their stuff for the Philippine team when the Azkals take on visiting Perth Glory FC on Tuesday at the Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
With some of the regulars tied up with their respective clubs and others recuperating from injuries, the Philippine Azkals will likely give promising youngsters like OJ Clarino, Jess Melliza, Camelo Tacusalme, Fitch Arboleda and Jim Ashley Flores their day in the field.
“The general framework of the game is really to test some players – the new ones, the young ones, especially those who were part of the U-23 before,” said coach Aris Caslib, who will call the shots in the absence of Thomas Dooley.
Dooley is attending to some responsibilities in the US but discussed plans for this friendly with Caslib before his departure.
“I look at it as a chance for the coaches to see other players who might just be part of the Azkals in the Suzuki Cup,” said team manager Dan Palami.
