MANILA, Philippines - San Beda and Letran renew their rivalry while Far Eastern U tests University of San Carlos’ mettle in a pair of semifinal matches where the winners will be declared co-champions of the National Collegiate Championship.

This after the PCCL board decided to cut short the NCC competitions in view of uncertain weather conditions.

“The board decided to shorten the NCC competitions in consideration of safety and convenience of students and players. Therefore, the winners of today’s games will be declared as co-champions of 2015 National Collegiate Championship and shall share the prize awards due them,” said the PCCL in a statement.

Heavy rain the past few days and flooding in some areas in the metropolis forced the PCCL to cancel yesterday’s scheduled semis games.

Instead, the Red Lions and the Knights face off at 2 p.m. today while the Tams and the USC Warriors tangle in the 4 p.m. main dish at the Filoil Flying V-Arena in San Juan.

The Red Lions are seeking a payback against the Knights, who dethroned the five-peat champions in the recent NCAA finals.

San Beda barged into the semis by surviving Technological Institute of the Philippines while the USC Warriors, the reigning CESAFI champions, turned back the UST Tigers.

FEU is gunning for its third national championship after scoring back-to-back victories from 2004-05.

The Red Lions are the defending champion while other former champions are DLSU, ADMU, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, FEU, and UE Warriors.

The National Collegiate Championship (NCC) is an annual multi-level nationwide competition organized and managed by the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) to determine the one and only national collegiate champion for the year.

The National Collegiate Championship is sponsored by ABS-CBN, Phoenix Petroleum, Molten Balls, Fil-Oil Flying V Sports, Fog City Creamery and Foccacia. Tickets are available at SM Tickets online.
