Spikers Turf ends season with reinforced tourney

MANILA, Philippines - The Spikers’ Turf presented by PLDT Home Ultera closes out its first ever season with the Reinforced Conference set to unfold tomorrow at The Arena in San Juan City.

Air Force clashes with Instituto Estetico Manila at 3 p.m. while Philippine Navy tangles with Sta. Elena at 5 p.m. ushering in the fledgling men’s volleyball league, which opened shop early in the year and already successfully held the Open Conference and the Collegiate Conference.

PLDT Home Ultera, which beat Cagayan Valley to emerge the Open Conference champion, will be out to capture its second title of the season as it faces off with a dangerous Cignal side at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The Ultrafast Spikers will be bannered by some of the country’s top players including reigning NCAA MVP Howard Mojica of Emilio Aguinaldo, Mark Alfafara of UST and Johnvic de Guzman of St. Benilde.

PLDT is coached by Ogie Mamon.

All games will be played on weekends, two on a Saturday and one on a Sunday and will conclude before the year ends.

Team are grouped into two with Cignal, IRM and Air Force bracketed in the first group and Navy, PLDT Home Ultera and Sta. Elena bunched in the other group.

Teams play all the teams once and the top two of each group advance in best-of-three semifinals.

PTV 4 will air during the 4 p.m. time slot from Mondays to Fridays and 9:15 p.m. on Saturdays during the eliminations, semis and finals.
