Hope, MPS notch fourth win in FCAAF cagefest

MANILA, Philippines - Multi-titled Hope Christian High School and Manila Patriotic School trounced their respective rivals to bolster their semifinal drive in Division A of the Molten presents 26th Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) basketball championships at the Chiang Kai Shek College gym in Manila last weekend.

Hope Christian used its height and heft advantage to the hilt to dominate St. Peter Apostle School, 63-34, and notch its fourth straight victory, which MPS later matched with an 86-49 demolition of St. Jude Catholic School.

Defending champion Chiang Kai Shek College, however, proved ruthless, beating Philippine Chung Hwa School by 100 points – 127-27 – to improve its record to 3-1.

St. Stephen’s High School finally barged into the win column by drubbing Philippine Cultural College, 65-46.

PACE Academy is leading the way in Division B-1 with a similar 4-0 record capped by its 78-71 win over Paco Citizen Academy Foundation also last Sunday.

Other results saw Philadelphia Chen Kuang High School beat Northern Rizal Yorklin School, 49-46, and Philippine Pasay Chung Hua Academy outlast Paco Citizen Academy Foundation, 46-39.

Philippine Sun Yat Sen and MGC New Life Christian Academy extended their winning streaks to three in Division B-2 by routing Uno High School (66-41) and Makati Hope Christian School (66-44), respectively, while St. Mary’s Angels College of Valenzuela improved to 3-1 by trouncing Phil. Institute of Quezon City, 70-58.

In the boys’ developmental results, SJCS beat Jubilee Christian Academy, 73-22; SSHS whipped CKSC, 58-32; MGC New Life Christian Academy defeated Uno High, 45-9, and PACE Academy clobbered Philadelphia High, 44-26.
