Galang to miss Lady Spikers’ stint in volley final
MANILA, Philippines - Injured La Salle skipper Ara Galang has been ruled out of the UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball finals, leaving a huge hole that the Lady Spikers have to plug in their effort to dethrone arch-rival Ateneo.
According to La Salle athletic director Nong Calanog, tests showed Galang with an ACL tear, MCL tear, medial miniscus tear and a big bone bruise on her left knee following a bad fall during the Lady Spikers’ 26-24, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21 victory over National University in their semifinals decider Saturday night.
The rest of the DLSU crew will have to step up vice Galang as they challenge Ateneo beginning Wednesday with the daunting task of beating the unbeaten Lady Eagles thrice to snatch the crown.
“It’s hard to lose a leader in a team, but we have to find a way,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus.
The injury will sideline Galang for eight months.
