Madrigal claims MMBL MVP plum

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Fil-Am sensation Victoria “Tori” Madrigal added another feat to her growing trophy collection when she captured the Most Valuable Player award in the Metro Manila Basketball League women’s high school play recently.

The 5-6 Madrigal normed averages of 16.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 4.4 steals, 1.9 blocks and 0.9 turnovers in 28 games for International School Manila.

“She’s not only a role model and player for ISM, but also a true leader. We are so proud to have her in the team,” said ISM head coach Doug McQueen of his prized junior, who bagged the MVP honors in the Hardeman Cup, a local tournament participated in by the top Metro Manila schools.

Madrigal was also named MVP in the ISSA in 2013 while also making the Mythical Five in the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools (IASAS) in 2012 in Singapore, in 2013 in Jakarta and in Taipei last year.

With her talent and skills, Madrigal has impressed a lot of collegiate league scouts this early. She has also been invited to play for the national team.

“At the moment, college basketball is not yet on my mind. I have to finish my high school first and then decide after that,” said Madrigal, who hopes to further hone up her skills by training with top physical conditioning coach Chris Gavina.
