MANILA, Philippines -- After a week’s worth of Men’s Basketball in the 2014 Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup, Centro Escolar University’s Rodrigue Ebondo captured the Purefoods Player of the Week (April 26-May 3) honors.
The Scorpions center from Congo led CEU to a 2-0 record in its maiden stint in the country’s premier pre-season college basketball tournament with victories over Emilio Aguinaldo College and the College of Saint Benilde. In those two matches, Ebondo averaged 13.5 points and 14.5 rebounds.
Ebondo was also named to the Gatorade Best Five of the Week along with San Sebastian College’s Jaymark Perez, University of Perpetual Help’s Earl Thompson, Far Eastern University’s Mike Tolomia, and San Beda College’s Arthur dela Cruz.
CEU’s hard-working center made it a personal grand slam of sorts by being named as the Gatorade Defensive Player of the Week as he chalked up 16 defensive rebounds, seven blocks and two steals in two matches.
