Pachanga blasts Pasargad, extends win run to 6

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Pachanga PLDT Home Fibr made it back-to-back against Pasargad on Saturday night in a match that saw four players sent off at the Emperador Stadium in McKinley Hill, Taguig.

Although both teams were reduced to nine men during the match, Pachanga was in complete control throughout, extending its unbeaten streak to six matches on the back of four straight wins.

“Going to this game, our objective was to get the third win for the third round. We made sure our win was convincing. I’m happy to make it 4-1,” said head coach Noel Marcaida.

Jasyon Cutamora opened scoring with a chip halfway through the first period, catching goalkeeper Amie William Nsangou off his line.

Shortly before the break, Shayan Jafari inexplicably stepped on a downed Mohsen Akbari Sarabi to receive a red card and reduce Pachanga to 10 men.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Gerardo Valmayor doubled the advantage almost immediately after half-time, blasting a clinical left-footed shot into the bottom right corner from outside the box.

Jang Ho Yoon came in as substitute to score two goals, with his strikes sandwiching three red cards.

Pasargad’s Jerome Cuyos was sent off for a second yellow, while teammate Jolomi Promise and Pachanga’s Davide Cortina were booted out with straight reds within 10 minutes.

“Shayan did the wrong thing. The intention was really bad. He should feel whatever action will be taken against him,” said Marcaida on Jafari’s ejection.

He felt Cortina’s red for cursing on the field, however, was unjust.

“In Davide’s case, there’s nothing we can do about it, but we’ll write an appeal letter. We know players curse at each other during games, but they are not given yellow [card],”he added.
