The ‘Answer’ to the rumors

For the past years, the Philippines has been one of the favorite destinations for NBA stars to visit and interact with their fans. One rumor is that the crossover king, Allen Iverson, will be hitting Manila really soon and the news have been spreading around on when he will come and who will bring him here. Everything has been a gray area till today.

That the 11-time NBA all-star is coming to Manila is indeed a fact and is now being negotiated between Sheryl Reyes of Sports Network Management and Iverson’s longtime manager Gary Moore.

Furthermore, Moore has stated that he is exclusively working with Reyes and her team in bringing Allen Iverson in town.

“It is my desire not to ever confuse the public. Allen will not be available in July and as his agent I have partnered with Sheryl Reyes and have complete confidence in her expertise as it relates to the market in the Philippines. As it relates to Moore Management & Entertainment, LLC., Sheryl Reyes is our agency partner there and our working relationship should last for many years to come,” he said.

Moore also stated that Sports Network Management will be the official organizer of Iverson’s trip to Manila.

“Sheryl shared with me how popular Allen is in the Philippines. So he knows just how popular the sport has become there,” said Moore. “We look forward to establishing a partnership with Moore Management & Entertainment, LLC and Sports Network Management bringing more basketball talent from the US to the Philippines.”

Reyes and her team organized the visits of Stephon Marbury last year. They were also responsible in bringing in imports for the Philippine Basketball Association in the likes of Rob Dozier, Mario West and Reynaldo Balkman.

Moore also stated that the former 1996 first round pick was concerned for the Filipino people when Typhoon Yolanda hit the country back in November.

“When we heard of the tragic event, it was like we had family and friends there even though we had never visited the island before,” he said. “We hope to see everyone real soon.”

The former NBA scoring champion has left a lasting memory to his fans, especially the Philippines. Generally, Filipinos are known to be “short” and seeing the 6’0” Iverson dominate the game has been inspiring to many.

Iverson left a message to his fans through Moore.

“Always realize that the game of life is much greater than basketball. Our character defines who we are. It speaks volumes about the type of person we are and how we viewed by others. So always respect one another as we respect the game of basketball that way you can truly enjoy both,” Moore said on Iverson’s behalf.

Now we know who will bring us the “Answer” and that brings us to the next question… when?

Stay tuned!
