The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - UAAP five-peat champion Ateneo and NCAA three-peat titlist San Beda have been seeded in the Final Four of Champions League (PCCL) 2012 National Collegiate Championship with the two other semis seats reserved for the winners of the “step-ladder knock out” games in Luzon-Metro Manila and Southern Islands brackets.

During the 10-year period of Champions League, the Blue Eagles won the national title in 2007, 2009 and 2010 with San Sebastian College-Recoletos foiling Ateneo’s three-peat bid last year.

San Beda recorded its best finish last year when it beat Southern Islands champion University of Cebu for third place.

Competing in the Luzon-Metro Manila bracket are UAAP runner-up University of Santo Tomas, National University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, De La Salle University, University of Perpetual Help, the North/Central Luzon regional champion, the South Luzon/Bicol regional champion and the top two teams in the Metro-Manila qualifying games.

Making up the Southern Islands cast are CESAFI champion Southwestern U Cobras, Visayas champion West Negros University, Mindanao champion Holy Trinity College, University of Visayas, and Colegio de San Jose Recoletos.

The remaining regional and qualifying games are set as follows: North-Central Luzon, Nov. 3-5, in San Fernando, La Union, South Luzon-Bicol, Nov. 3-6 in Naga City and the Metro-Manila qualifying games Nov. 6-8, at FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan.
