Brunei IX blanks Zambo

MANILA, Philippines - Brunei team Kensei essayed an abbreviated 10-0 shutout of Zamboanga City in just four innings to advance to the men’s finals in the Open division of the National Softball Open at Clark Field, Pampanga.

Kensei opened with a three-run binge then went on a six-run scoring spree in the third inning to post a commanding lead for a 7-1 win-loss card.

Meanwhile, Army and Air Force are disputing the other finals slot although it would depend on the outcome of the protest filed after the game by the Armymen for alleged illegal batting against JK.Com Zamboanga.

In women’s play, University of the East, piloted by Blu Girl Joy Lasquite, goes up against the Adamson University Alumni team for the crown in the event sponsored by Cebuana Pera Padala, Cebuana Lhuillier Bank, Phiten, Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions, Just Jewels, Le Soleil de Boracay, TJ Hotdogs, Purefoods Chicken Nuggets, Smokey’s Sausages, Hungry Juan, DOT Region 3, hosted by the Clark Development Corp., and organized by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines. 

Marikina, which swept the elims in the men’s club division shoots for the crown against Laguna, which finished with a 4-2 record while a triple-tie ensued among Angeles, Bulacan, and Pampanga for the third and fourth slots.
