Hoops School holds Spalding summer camps

MANILA, Philippines - The Spalding Basketball Camp is bringing back its popular basketball clinics to several venues in Metro Manila and Luzon this summer.

The camps will be held daily, starting April 11, at 1 p.m., at the Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall penthouse gym.

Other venues are the FAITH in Tanauan (April 10), Divine Light Academy in Las Piñas (April 11), I. S. Montessori in Bocaue (April 24), Cuneta Astrodome-Pasay City Sports Complex (April 27) and Ynares Sports Arena, Shaw Blvd. (April 30). Similar camps will be held in UP Village, Marikina Heights and other venues and schools in May.

The camps, conducted by Hoops School, now on its 10th year as one of the leading basketball training schools in the country, teach correct basketball to boys and girls, from six to 17 years, who wish to learn the fundamentals of the game. The camps also offer advanced dribbling and shooting skills programs for more advanced students.

In terms of value for money, the organizers say no other basketball clinic or camp comes close. Handled by professional trainers and coaches, including two American coaches – Richard Willis (coach of the US Armed Forces Team in Korea and Japan) and Rick Collins (who will arrive from Washington DC before April 9), the camps have pioneered so many “firsts”.

Among them, it stared the “Free Everything” program for kids. For a seven-day program with an enrolment fee of P1,899, kids get a Spalding ball, Spalding reversible jersey, Spalding bag and sports bottle.

They also get the chance to use several training aids, like the defensive men, the pure shot, heads up goggles and others.

For the more advanced kids, they get to use the Noah Computerized Camera analyzer and the Briton Toss Back. Audiovisuals and video viewing are also regular fares of the clinics.
