Phl youth 13-under rules West Triangle caging
MANILA, Philippines - The Phl Youth 13-Under of coach Mark Herrera crushed the West Triangle Selection, 89-63, and reigned in the just-concluded 18-Under West Triangle basketball tournament.
The victory capped the national kids’ five-game sweep of the eliminations of the tournament organized by sports coordinator Nel Parado of West Triangle and the barangay council.
Earlier, the 13-Under national squad defeated Joses Goto, 90-60, Ferndale, 85-60, Examiner, 81-55, West Triangle, 87-52, and St. Vincent, 89-74, to set up the final match with second placer West Triangle.
Herrera’s win came on the heels of the triumphant finish of the Meralco Bolts-QC team which gave him his fifth straight coaching title in the annual Jr. PBA summer league, the first four under Talk N Text-QC.
“They have played their best and they deserve to win,” said Herrera. “I’d like to thank executive director Sonny Barrios, president Manny Pangilinan, vice chairman Ricky Vargas and Bernie Atienza for their support to the team under the SBP’s grasssroots level program.”
The team is composed of Jonas Briones, Joshua Santos, Earl Lagaras, Karl Bautista, Vince Cabural,Gian Mamuyac, Baileys Acot Clyde Ceralde, Ken Soriano, Camillus Altamirano, Jerome Lapiz, Rendell Lee, Tyler Tio, Kyle Ong, Kobe Paras and Jaime Cabaruz.
The coaching staff includes assistants Edwin Ancheta, Andrew Magandi and Benjie Diswe.
