Things looking up for revitalized Ready2Race
MANILA, Philippines - With a revitalized lineup and renewed vision, top team Ready2Race eyes another fruitful season following its its impressive haul in the kickoff of the 2011 Petron Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack.
Key drivers Roby Benito, Juha Turalba and John Effinger, together with new recruits Daniel Castaneda, Matthew Edmunds and Jon Julian accounted for two champion trophies, two runners-up, and three third places harvested by Ready2Race backed up by Tony Kart, AIM Racing Gauges, Sparco, ORG Racing Gear and the Active Group.
Benito, last year’s Junior Karter of the Year, put up a strong fight as he captured the runner-up finish in the ROK senior and the second runner-up honors in the ROK overall.
Turalba, the 2008 Asian ROK champion, staged a determined rally from 13th place to clinch third place in the ROK senior and finish fourth in the ROK overall division.
Castaneda showed big potential as he even diced with more experienced drivers to claim the SQ novice crown.
Effinger, on the other hand, steered the team to a 1-2-3 finish in the SQ veterans class together with Edmunds and first-timer Jon Julian.
Young ward Stephen Taylor proved himself by finishing fourth runner-up as he posted the second fastest lap of the day at 55.158 seconds. It was also his first time to race and only saw the Carmona racetrack just two days before the event.
“Our mainstays, John, Roby and Juha, delivered as usual, but we were surprised with the performance of our newbies, Daniel (Castaneda) and Stephen (Taylor). Seeing how competitive the kickoff race was, expect our other karters Onemig Bondoc, Julius Milla, Wayne Darvin and Alli Julian to step up in the next race at BRC on April 17,” said Ready 2 Race coach Pepon Marave.
