Biado rips Gomez, tops Star billiards

MANILA, Philippines - Carlo Biado defeated Roberto Gomez, 13-8, to rule the December edition of the Star Billiards 10-Ball tournament at the Star Billiards Center in Quezon City over the weekend.

It was the second local title of Biado who also topped the Manny Pacquiao 10-Ball Tournament in General Santos City.

Biado won P100,000 while Gomez, the 2007 WPA World Pool Championships finalist, received P40,000.

On the road to the finals, Biado subdued Dennis Orcullo while Gomez routed Demosthenes Pulpul.

Orcullo and Pulpul went home with P10,000 each.

Fifth to eighth placers were former WPA 9-ball and 8-ball champion Ronato Alcano, Raymond Faraon, reigning BSCP national open champion Lee Vann Corteza and Bob Flores.

Ninth to 16th placers were 2006 Doha Asian Games 9-ball silver medalist Jeffrey de Luna, Japan kingpin Antonio Lining, Jundel Mazon, Judi Villanueva, Elvis Calasang, Joven Bustamante, John Salazar and Eric Rodriguez.
