Big turnout seen in QC marathon

MANILA, Philippines - Another huge turnout is expected in the second Quezon City International Marathon (QCIM), touted to be the year’s biggest and most exciting international running event, on Dec. 5.

Registration is currently in full swing, drawing thousands of professional, recreational and beginner runners set to hit the road in the 5 km, 10 km, 21km, and 42 km races.

The Executive Runners Club of the Philippines (Runnex) said registration for the event supported by Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte will be open until Nov. 7.

Application forms are accepted at R.O.X. Bonifacio High Street, Chris Sports outlets, Secondwind in Ortigas, the Quezon City Hall and the Runnex office at Rm. 304 Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman.

Fees are P650 for the 42K, P500 for 21K and P350 for the 5K and 10K.

The QCIM traverses Quezon City’s famous landmarks such as a portion of the La Mesa Dam Eco Park, a venue providing for healthful outdoor recreation and a true forest experience; University of the Philippines, a favorite running spot with its tree-lined roads from which the Oblation, another of the city’s famous icons, may be viewed.

The Quezon City Memorial Circle, the city’s most iconic landmark, will serve as the start and finish lines of the races.
